Light for the Dark.
Direction for the Journey.
Northern Star exists because no one is meant to do life alone. We provide light in the dark and help youth rediscover who they are, find direction, and move forward with confidence, walking with them through every season as they build lives that last.
Welcome to Northern Star Foundation, a community-rooted nonprofit serving children, youth, and families, with a focused commitment to foster and kinship youth. We exist because no one should have to navigate grief, identity, or life transitions alone. Through structured Grief Support Programs, identity-centered Foster Care Mentorship, creativity-based expression, and family strengthening resources, we walk alongside individuals in some of life’s most vulnerable and formative seasons.

Whether you are searching for grief support, a trusted program for foster and kinship youth, emotional wellness resources for families, or a community where you can serve and make a difference, you belong here. Our programs support youth experiencing living loss, placement transitions, and identity disruption, while equipping them and the families who support them with tools that build social, emotional, and developmental resilience.

Northern Star is more than a program. It is a growing network of mentors, grief-informed facilitators, families, and community partners committed to strengthening identity, emotional wellness, and long-term outcomes for youth navigating complex life experiences.

If you are seeking support, looking to enroll in our Grief Support or Foster Care Mentorship programs, or interested in volunteering with a mission-driven nonprofit, we invite you to explore, connect, and become part of something that builds what lasts.

Because healing happens in community, and here, no one walks alone.
